Product definition & manufacturing preparation

Zenit Astronomy combines OpenAstroTech’s experience in automation, GoTo mounts and automatic polar alignment with OG Star Tech’s work on precise mechanical trackers. A new company needs more than a name: it needs clear product boundaries, engineering interfaces, manufacturing preparation and a market story grounded in reality.

Maker3D supports the incubation of the company and product. The first version focuses on the collaboration and product path; exact manufacturing responsibilities, commercial data and intellectual-property details remain subject to final review by the parties involved.

Challenge

Combine strengths from two open-source astronomy projects into a new brand, a clear product proposition and a product path that can reach users.

Approach

  1. 01Define product boundaries around the target user and observing workflow
  2. 02Coordinate interfaces between mechanics, electronics, software and manufacturing preparation
  3. 03Ground the brand story in a real product and delivery capability

Deliverables

  • Product and collaboration boundaries
  • Engineering and manufacturing preparation support
  • Brand incubation support
  • Delivery path for international users

Current progress

  • An independent Zenit Astronomy brand and product direction have been established
  • Zenit Align Mini is progressing around autonomous polar alignment as its central proposition
Publication scope

This page describes only the confirmed collaboration scope. Commercial data, exact models and detailed responsibilities will be added after further publication review.
